‘ANGUWAN TANA’ PHYSICAL ASSAULT - SUSPECT IN CUSTODY FOR DILIGENT INVESTIGATION AND PROSECUTION


 

Following the widespread circulation of a disturbing video depicting the physical abuse of a woman in Anguwan Tana, Jimeta-Yola, the suspect involved Umar Shu’aibu has been apprehended.

 

Statement from the Adamawa State Police Command signed by SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, ANIPR, Police Public Relations Officer on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, revealed that on 13th of March, 2025, a woman, Salamatu Yakubu, 22 years old, of Anguwan Tana, Jimeta-Yola, was physically assaulted and severely beaten, during which the unfortunate incident was recorded and shared on social media.

 

Concerned citizens, Non-Governmental Organizations as well as Civil Society Organizations made several calls to the police, while the timely response led to the arrest of the suspect.

 

The suspect Umar Shu’aibu of Anguwan Tana, Jimeta-Yola was apprehended with the assistance of concerned citizens through community policing strategies.

 

The victim has been taken to the hospital for medical attention and is responding to treatment.

 

The suspect is currently in custody at the Gender Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department for diligent investigation and prosecution.

 

The Command assures the public that the case will be thoroughly investigated and the suspect will be prosecuted under the relevant sections of the law.
