Adamawa State Chapter of the Fulbe
Development and Cultural Organization, FUDECO, has reconstituted its executive
council to pilot the affairs of the organization for a two-year term, with a
renewed commitment to community development, peacebuilding, cultural
preservation and humanitarian service.
The reconstitution, which marks another
significant phase in the activities of the organization in Adamawa State, is
expected to provide the chapter with a stronger administrative framework for
advancing its programmes and strengthening cooperation among communities.
Addressing members of the newly constituted
council, the State Chapter Chairman, Jamila Hassan, described FUDECO as a
non-profit and non-partisan development and humanitarian organization established
to contribute positively to society.
She emphasized that the organization remains
committed to peacebuilding, cooperation and constructive engagement with other
communities, stressing the importance of collective responsibility in
addressing challenges affecting society.
According to her, FUDECO's orientation goes
beyond cultural identity, as the organization seeks to promote peaceful
coexistence, development and humanitarian values while encouraging members to
contribute meaningfully to the progress of their communities.
Hassan congratulated members of the new
council and urged them to approach their responsibilities with dedication,
discipline and a strong sense of service.
She said the new leadership has an important
responsibility to build on the achievements of the organization and further
strengthen its visibility and relevance in the state.
ADAMU MUHAMMAD DODO: Communication Secretary, Adamawa FUDECO
Also speaking, the organization's
Communication Secretary, Adamu Muhammad Dodo, congratulated members of the new
executive on their emergence and expressed confidence in their ability to
contribute to the continued growth of FUDECO.
Dodo used the occasion to commend the Lamido
Adamawa, Alhaji Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, for the appointment of
Abdullahi Bashir Haske as Sarki Fulani Adamawa.
He described the appointment as a development
worthy of recognition and appreciation, particularly for its significance to FUDECO,
the Fulani community and the broader traditional and community leadership
structure in Adamawa State.
According to him, the recognition of leadership
within the traditional institution is important in strengthening
representation, community engagement and peaceful relations among the people.
He commended the Lamido Adamawa for what he
described as a significant decision, while congratulating Abdullahi Bashir
Haske on his emergence and urging him to justify the confidence placed in him.
UMAR ATIKU MAHMUD: Secretary, Adamawa FUDECO
Responding to the recognition accorded them by
Adamawa FUDECO, the organization's Secretary, Umar Atiku Mahmud, expressed
appreciation to the leadership and members of the organization.
Mahmud pledged to justify the confidence
reposed in him by committing himself fully to the organization's programmes and
activities.
He said he would dedicate his efforts to
supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening community development,
pastoralist rights advocacy, education, peacebuilding, cultural preservation,
humanitarian assistance and participatory research.
Mahmud's pledge reflects the broad range of
issues FUDECO seeks to address, particularly those connected to community
development, education, peaceful coexistence and the preservation of cultural
heritage.
He expressed readiness to work with other
members of the organization in advancing its objectives and ensuring that
FUDECO continues to make meaningful contributions to society.
Presentation of Flag to Adamawa FUDECO for Hosting Next AGM of the Organization
The occasion also featured a formal flag
handover to the Adamawa State Chapter Chairman, Jamila Hassan.
The presentation of the flag formally
communicated that Adamawa FUDECO will host the organization's next Annual
General Meeting, AGM, placing the state chapter at the center of the
organization's forthcoming major gathering.
The development is being viewed as both a
recognition of the Adamawa chapter's role within FUDECO and an opportunity for
the chapter to showcase its organizational capacity, programmes and commitment
to the ideals of the organization.
With the new executive council now
constituted for a two-year tenure, attention is expected to focus on
translating its stated commitments into practical programmes that will benefit
communities and strengthen FUDECO's contribution to peace, development,
cultural preservation and humanitarian activities across Adamawa State.
The reconstituted council has therefore been
charged, directly and indirectly, with the responsibility of using the new
tenure to consolidate the organization's achievements, expand its community
engagement and further establish FUDECO as a constructive partner in
development and peaceful coexistence.
