Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru
Fintiri, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of Vice
Chairmen across the twenty-one local government areas of the state, assuring
them that all outstanding entitlements and official benefits would be settled
before the completion of their tenure.
The Governor gave the reassurance when
he hosted members of the Association of Local Government Vice Chairmen at the
Government House in Yola during a courtesy and appreciation visit.
Governor Fintiri stated that every
public office holder who served diligently under his administration deserved to
leave office with dignity, stressing that his government would not neglect any
loyal official after the expiration of their mandate.
He further assured those who may not
return to public office after their tenure that opportunities for continued
service would still be made available through appointments and other avenues
that would allow them to contribute meaningfully to governance and the
development of the state.
The Governor praised the Vice Chairmen
for their loyalty, support, and contributions to the successes recorded by his
administration, describing them as a vital component of his political family
and grassroots structure.
According to him, their closeness to
the people places them in a strategic position to properly evaluate the impact
of government policies, programmes, and developmental projects at the
grassroots level.
Governor Fintiri also explained that
the appointment of women as Vice Chairmen in all the twenty-one local
government councils was intentionally designed to encourage inclusiveness in
governance, empower women politically, and deepen democratic participation at
the grassroots.
He noted with satisfaction that the
initiative has yielded positive results and has continued to attract
commendation, with several states now adopting similar measures.
The Governor equally called on members
of the ruling All Progressives Congress to remain united, dedicated, and
focused on strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections, while
supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation,
Sara Samuel, applauded Governor Fintiri for what they described as his
inclusive leadership style, commitment to grassroots governance, and consistent
support for local government administration, adding that the Governor had
continued to demonstrate leadership that carries everyone along, particularly
women, youths, and local government officials.
Samuel explained that the Governor’s
open-door policy had strengthened the confidence of Vice Chairmen across the
state and provided them with the opportunity to actively participate in
governance and community development.
She also expressed
gratitude to the Governor for investing in leadership development and capacity
building for local government officials through various workshops, seminars,
training programmes, and sponsored trips aimed at improving administrative
competence.
Sara revealed that some Vice
Chairmen were privileged to gain international exposure through official
visits, including trips to the Holy Land, experiences they described as
valuable in broadening their leadership perspective and enhancing their ability
to represent the state effectively.
