A highly influential and dynamic
advisory body known as the Adamawa Progressive Elders Council has been created to
serve as a unifying force for the All Progressives Congress in Adamawa State.
The formation of the Council is the
brain child of the Leader of the Party in the State, and in fulfilment of the
recommendations of the APC Reconciliation Committee which was then headed by
late Senator Muhammed Mana.
Council’s spokesperson, Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim
Sajoh, disclosed this at a press conference in Yola, emphasizing the major
objectives of the initiative as to address all misunderstandings presented by
the leadership of the party in the state, as well as ensuring that APC as a
party succeeds in all electable positions in Adamawa State during the next general
elections.
There was a general consensus that the
leadership of the Council is committed to ensuring that APC in Adamawa State
delivers all the votes required in 2027 to give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a
landslide victory and to return all APC candidates during the election circle.
The Council will liaise and be in
complete synergy with the Party leadership while submitting to the position of
the National and State Working Committees of the Party as the reservoir from
where the legitimacy of the Council will be drawn.
Most importantly the Council pledges to
work assiduously to strengthen both the Party and the functions of the
leadership in order to ensure the success of APC in all elections and to
establish a strong reward system that builds confidence and trust among
members.
The Council agreed to ensure Unity of
the APC family in Adamawa state, and that all members must remain neutral with
no personal political interests other than the success of APC in the State.
Below are the full resolutions adopted
by the Council at the inaugural meeting. These resolutions were endorsed by
every member who attended the meeting:
1. To ensure the unity, peace, progress
and the success of APC in Adamawa State.
2. To ensure that His Excellency
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu receives the highest lawful votes to be cast at the
2027 presidential election.
3. To ensure that the APC in Adamawa state
presents credible candidates for the governorship, national and state assembly
elections in 2027 and that such candidates emerge victorious in the general
elections.
4. To ensure that all congresses for
either the election of party leadership or nomination of candidates are
conducted in a rancor free atmosphere and that justice and fairness prevail at
all times in the conduct of such congresses.
5. To ensure that all disputes arising
from internal party elections or nomination processes are resolved and that
disagreements resulting from such processes do not fester and jeopardize the
chances of the APC in any general elections involving contests with other
political parties.
6. To provide a platform for grassroots
campaigns that provide an effective support base for the party leadership and
candidates in all elections.
7. To provide advisories to the
leadership of the APC in Adamawa State and all elected officials at state and
national levels on adequate reward systems for party members in line with the
principles of equity and fairness within the party.
8. To remain loyal to the leadership of
the Council and Party and to undertake any lawful assignment given by the
leadership of the Council in the overall interest of the APC in Adamawa State.
9. To provide support to the Local
Government and ward structures of the Council and to support the party
leadership at the Local Government and ward levels both materially and physically
where required.
10. The council may raise funds and
acquire resources from sources approved by the leadership of the Council or the
Party for the purpose of carrying out its activities. Such funds and resources
shall be utilized in an accountable and transparent manner and always as
authorized by the leadership of the Council.
11.Any member who desires to stand for
election shall seize to be a member of the Council.
12.To undertake any other activity that
may be lawfully assigned by the leadership of the Council which is considered
consequential or incidental to the achievement of the stated objectives of the
Council.
The group agreed to remain loyal to the
Party leadership and as elders play a dispute resolution role that ensures that
APC in Adamawa State never faces any future elections as a fractured party with
members fighting each other.
Members of the Council also agreed to
ensure fairness and equity prevail in all internal party selection processes.
To that effect, Council shall mobilize all human and material resources to use
as the vehicles for the success of the party in all elections.
Members of the Council shall be bound by
the need for confidentiality in the activities of the Council and shall at all
times disclose information only to the extent required for the due discharge of
their functions as members of the Council.
The All Progressives Congress deserves
heartfelt commendation for its visionary decision to establish a unifying
council dedicated to strengthening internal harmony and driving electoral
success. This bold initiative reflects the party’s unwavering commitment to
cohesion, progress, and democratic excellence.
By forming this council, the APC has
once again demonstrated its capacity for strategic leadership and collective
responsibility. It shows a deep understanding that unity is the foundation of
every strong political institution and the key to winning the confidence of the
Nigerian people. The move also highlights the party’s readiness to consolidate
its structures, energize its supporters, and approach future elections with
renewed strength and focus.
The APC’s dedication to fostering
teamwork, discipline, and internal collaboration is truly admirable. It sends a
powerful message that the party values inclusiveness, dialogue, and shared
purpose. Such initiatives strengthen democracy and set a strong example for

Nigerians commend the APC for its
