ATIKU ABUBAKAR - NIGERIA'S FORMER VICE PRESIDENT
The Atiku Media Office, Abuja, had observed
with concern, certain self-styled media consultant in the person of Kola
Johnson, issuing press releases containing false and malicious claims intended
to discredit the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
A press statement signed and issued by the Atiku
Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, for the Atiku Media Office, Abuja, revealed that the contents
of such publications are baseless, misleading, and without any foundation in
truth, regretting the desperation of certain Nigerian figures to smear
opposition leaders, which has resorted to hiring faceless mercenaries to
fabricate fake stories and circulate unauthorized statements on Atiku.
The statement focuses particularly on offensive
false claim attributed to this individual that an Atiku administration would be
dominated by a single ethnic group, clarifying that this disinformation is part
of the calculated propaganda project designed to ridicule Atiku in the media.
Therefore, the Atiku Media Office, Abuja, firmly
distance former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from the said press releases and
strongly condemn the act of deliberately spreading falsehoods, noting that such
actions are not only unfortunate, but also undermine the values of honesty,
fairness, and responsible communication.
Paul Ibe made it clear that Atiku Abubakar has
never engaged any Kola Johnson as a media consultant, aide, or associate. Therefore,
any statement issued in that name is fake and should be disregarded, urging
media houses that have published such falsehoods to immediately retract them.
Atiku Media Office, Abuja, urge Nigerians especially
the media to remain vigilant and disregard such information in its entirety,
adding that it remains committed to upholding integrity and transparency in all
Atiku Abubakar’s dealings, and will not be deterred by attempts to malign his name
by circulating fabricated statements through compromised journalists.
For the record, Paul Ibe posited that authentic
information from Atiku Abubakar is only released through the Atiku Media
Office, signed by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, or the Special Assistant on
Public Communications.
As a result of that, Paul Ibe appreciates
Nigerian media industry for doubting the press releases, calling on other media
gatekeepers to verify with Atiku Media Office before any publication of all
critical matters related to the Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
