EXEMPLARY SERVICE: NSCDC Rewards Officer with Special Promotion

Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, (NSCDC) Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has approved a special promotion for one Abdulkadir Abubakar Mayos, Corps Assistant II, an indigene of Adamawa State serving in Yola the state capital, from Corps Assistant II on CONPASS 4 to the rank of Corps Assistant I on CONPASS 5 with effect from 1^st January, 2025.

Celebrating this development at the headquarters of the NSCDC in Yola, the Adamawa State Commandant of the Corps, Idris Dahiru Bande, has revealed that the special promotion for Abdulkadir Abubakar Mayos was in recognition of his exceptional dedication, outstanding performance and exemplary service.

 

“It is with deep gratitude and respect, that I use this ceremony to appreciate in a special way, our esteemed and amiable Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Ph.D, mni, OFR, for something that often goes unnoticed in many corners of the world, recognizing, honouring and rewarding honesty. The Commandant General’s decision to acknowledge and uplift this core value sends a powerful message to all of us. In recognizing honesty, he is not just rewarding a single act, he is also encouraging and inculcating a culture of integrity, trust and accountability across our ranks and within our community.”

The Adamawa Commandant stressed that Abdulkadir Abubakar Mayos was recognized not only for his achievements, but for the way he has earned the trust and respect of everyone around him, and at the same time projected the good image of the Corps to greater heights in a world where short cuts are tempting and appearances can be deceiving.  

 

“Abubakar Abdulkadir Mayos on Friday demonstrated honesty by returning a bag he found belonging to one Maimuna Salihu, an intending pilgrim from Taraba State that was scheduled to be airlifted from Yola International Airport for 2025 Hajj. In the bag, there was 505 US Dollars and 300 Saudi Riyals totaling N850,000 worth of Nigerian money. We are all here to honour you today, not only because of what you have done, but because of who you are. Your integrity uplifts all of us, our organization as well, and reminds us of the kind of people we should strive to be and live with.”

 

Responding, Abdulkadir Abubakar Mayos commended the NSCDC for giving them moral training for them to be productive members of the society and be good ambassadors of their organization, state and the nation as a whole, promising to live a life full of fear of God coupled with the moral principles of right and wrong and defend the integrity of the NSCDC wherever he might be.

 

“I am very grateful Sir to the Almighty Allah (SWT) for giving me this opportunity to do this wonderful thing in life. I also thank my Commandant General and my State Commandant. I pledge In Sha Allah, I will serve my country In Sha Allah, and I will continue serving with honesty In Sha Allah.”   

Adamawa and Taraba zonal coordinator of Hajj Monitors of Nigeria, Ahmad Usman, revealed that NSCDC must be commended for the moral training of its officers, appreciating Abdulkadir Abubakar Mayos for the good representation of his organization as well as the name he earned NSCDC, urging other established entities to emulate NSCDC in recognizing their staff who give a good representation of their organizations.

 

“Actually we found that it is not everybody that will find such a money and return it to the owner, more especially with the situation we are. However, this young man exhibited such a character; and we thank the Civil Defense for recognizing him as quickly as possible, not delaying, just trying to show that others should emulate from such an individual. If all other organizations are doing the same thing, I believe other people will like to do it the same way.”  

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) is a paramilitary agency under the Federal Ministry of Interior, established by Act 3 of 2003 and amended in 2007.

 

Its core mandate is to provide protection, crisis response, and peacekeeping services in collaboration with other security agencies.

Since its formal recognition, the Corps has grown into a key component of Nigeria’s internal security framework, with wide-ranging responsibilities across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

 

In other words, NSCDC officers are trained in civil security and law enforcement, enabling them to conduct joint security operations with the police, military, and other agencies; provide crowd control and peacekeeping during protests, rallies, and elections; prevent and investigate crimes, especially those related to economic sabotage and public safety.
